The win was not enough to lift Roda off the bottom of the table but Molenaar believes it will give his side confidence going into their upcoming games.

Molenaar said, ”After we made substitutions we managed to pin SC Heerenveen back and create chances to go on to win the match.

”Things went well for us today and we are pleased with that.

”Our supporters are emotional and they have been through tough times in recent months and in this day and age if things are not going well it’s normal to call for the manager to be sacked.

”Emotions are also felt by the players and backroom staff who also work very hard to achieve results.

”We must keep working hard together and try to move forward.

”I am convinced that if we keep playing as we did especially after 70 minutes today that the supporters will continue to encourage us and get behind the team.

”Today was the kick-start we needed. Getting the 3 points was the most important thing. We were also very dynamic today in the way we played and that was pleasing to see.”
