The former Manchester United, Arsenal and Feyenoord star left Old Trafford for Turkey last season in a €5.5 million deal. However, despite scoring twenty-two goals in forty-eight games, Van Persie has fallen out of favour with manager Vitor Pereira and his future at the club now hangs in the balance.
The player has been continually substituted in key fixtures and the player has become repeatedly frustrated at his situation. In January, Robin van Persie was linked with a move back to Feyenoord but the move never materialised and the transfer window slammed shut leaving Van Persie in Turkey.
Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, a transfer away from the club seems to be a very distinct possibility with the President of Fenerbahce revealing he is willing to listen to any offer for the player, saying “Van Persie? We’re waiting for buyers, if he wants to be sold.”
Robin van Persie is currently valued at €11 million and whether Fenerbahce are willing to take a cut price deal remains to be seen. A number of destinations are a possibility for Van Persie including England, Spain, Italy, China and the Netherlands.
Though, it is doubtful if Feyenoord, his potential destination in the Eredivisie, have the funds to complete the deal or if Van Persie is willing to take a pay cut to join his long time friend Kuyt at De Kuip.
Kuyt disclosed to the Metro that he has already spoken with his former Dutch International teammate about a move to Feyenoord saying, “I sometimes say jokingly to him that I want to play another year with him at Feyenoord, but Robin is in a very different period of his career.”
We must now wait to see if any club comes forward with concrete interest.
Not sure I would want him at Feyenoord. They are building a nice core there. There is no doubt about RVP’s talent. One of the best strikers ever. But he is a head case with a bad attitude and turns 33 this summer. Even on a loan deal not sure I would want him at the Kuip. If we had to sell one of our other good young players like Kongolo to get him, then hell no. I will trust GVB on this. If he thinks he can deal with him and get him to produce, and we can get him for free on a loan…..maybe……
