Wout Weghorst earned AZ Alkmaar a point at Roda JC after a Ron Vlaar error had gifted the hosts the lead.

The hosts started brightly as they went in search of their second win of the season and five minutes before the break they took the lead. A terrible pass from Ron Vlaar was seized upon by Abdul Ajagun and the midfielder finished past Sergio Rochet.
In the second half, Roda JC had chances to wrap up the victory but they couldn’t find the crucial second goal and eventually AZ equalised through Wout Weghorst. The striker fired past Benjamin van Leer after racing onto substitute Mats Seuntjens pass.
The draw means Roda JC remain bottom while AZ are fifth.
