Excelsior came from behind to earn their their third win of the season as they beat Roda JC 2-1 in Kerkrade.

The hosts dominated the early stages and took the lead on 14 minutes when a corner caused chaos in the Excelsior box and Tomi Juric fired past Tom Muyters. The striker nearly made it 2-0 soon after but his bicycle kick landed on the roof of the net, while Richmond Boakye forced Muyters into a good save.
Excelsior created nothing in the first half but just before the break Sander Fischer headed in Jeff Stans corner to level the scores. Stans then gave the visitors the lead in the 67th minute with an excellent free kick which flew into the top corner.
Stans then had the chance to make it three from the penalty spot after a foul by Tom van Hyfte, but the midfielder blasted his spot kick wide.
Roda JC pushed for an equaliser, but the best chance before the end fell to Excelsior as Nigel Hasselbaink raced through on goal, but the attacker took too long to shoot and his shot was easily saved.
Excelsior climb to 12th with the three points, while Roda JC stay 8th.
