Roda JC helped their chances of escaping relegation by earning a last-gasp 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle.

The home side came into the game off the bottom on goal difference thanks to the monster 8-0 defeat suffered by Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday.

After a scrappy start, it was PEC Zwolle who created the first real chance on 34 minutes but with only an empty net to hit, Queensy Menig delayed his finish which allowed Christian Kum to make a goalline clearance. Five minutes later the visitors did net the opener with Younes Mokhtar finishing a fine team move.

However, three minutes into the second half Roda JC equalised through Gyliano van Velzen who finished off a cross by Mohamed El Makrini.

PEC Zwolle then squandered chance after chance to regain the lead and with a minute left they were punished. Beni Badibanga struck the crossbar from distance but Mikhail Rosheuvel followed up to net the rebound.

The win lifts Roda JC up to 16th while PEC Zwolle remain 12th.
