Roda JC are clinging onto life in the Eredivisie after they were held to a 2-2 draw by AZ Alkmaar.

Roda JC made a determined start as Berry Powel missed a glorious chance to give them an early lead after heading over the bar with the goal gaping. The striker made up for his error on 25 minutes when he headed in a brilliant cross from Henk Dijkhuizen to give Roda JC a well deserved lead.
However Roda could not hold on and four minutes before the break Marcus Henriksen rifled in the equaliser from the edge of the box following a corner.
Just before the hour mark Aron Johannsson headed in Johan Gudmundsson’s cross and it seemed Roda JC were once again going to be defeated. However on 70 minutes a free kick was cleared to the edge of the box and Guus Hupperts fired a low shot past Esteban to equalise for Roda JC.
With ten minutes to go Roda JC were reduced to ten men after Guy Ramos was shown his second yellow card, but despite the man advantage AZ were unable to find the winning goal. Aron Johannsson should have won the game for AZ, but shot wide when through on goal, before firing over late on.
Roda JC cling onto the hope of survival with three games left they are eight points from safety, and are two points behind 2nd bottom NEC. AZ remain in 7th place.
