A 90th-minute equaliser from Tom van Hyfte earned Roda JC a 2-2 draw against Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena.

roda ccPeter Bosz returned Kasper Dolberg to the starting line-up and the young Dane netted his first Eredivisie goal after only eight minutes. Jairo Riedewald found Davy Klaassen with a lovely ball, and the midfielder’s cross was nodded into the net by Dolberg from close range. Ajax controlled possession after the goal but failed to create chances and with their first real opportunity of the game Roda JC drew level. Adil Auassar turned David Boysen’s cross past Jasper Cillessen to stun the home crowd.

Ajax regained their lead in the final minute of the first half through Dolberg, who netted his second goal of the game with a lovely finish into the corner from Daley Sinkgraven’s cross.

At the start of the second half Amin Younes was brought on for Sinkgraven and the attacker twice went close to sealing the win for Ajax, firstly firing a shot just wide before seeing a goalbound effort blocked to safety by a Roda JC defender. Bertrand Traore was brought on for his Ajax debut, but the on-loan Chelsea man also couldn’t find a killer third goal, touching a shot wide from close range was the closest he came.

Roda JC barely threatened an equaliser, but they got it in the final minute with van Hyfte heading in a free kick in the final minute to earn his side an unlikely point. Frederic Ananou was sent off for a second yellow late on, but Roda held on.

The draw isn’t ideal preparation for Ajax, who face Russian side Rostov in the first leg of their Champions League play-off next week.
