Roda JC have finally found their first win since August, with a Hicham Faik free kick enough to see off Excelsior.

With both sides in a poor run of form, chances were few and far between in the first half, with the visitors going closest through a Tom van Hyfte strike which was well kept out by Tom Muyters.
Excelsior enjoyed a lot of possession, but they were reduced to strikes from distance, while Tom van Weert shot harmlessly over the bar from a good position.
The game was heading for a dull draw but in the 83rd minute Hicham Faik’s free kick was allowed to bounce in the box and it looped into the net. The goal was enough for Roda JC to earn their first win since August 30th and they now move above Excelsior into fourteenth.
