Ron Vlaar has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks and his agent has done little to quell the talk surrounding his Aston Villa future.

Vlaar is out of contract in the summer of 2015 and is being linked with a Louis van Gaal reunion at Manchester United.
His agent Arnold Oosterveer talked up Vlaar’s chances of a big move last week by suggesting the contract’s impending conclusion offered the player a “natural break” in which to seek new opportunities.
Furthermore, Oosterveer also claimed that negotiations with Aston Villa over a prospective new deal had not even begun.
This suggestion has angered Villa boss Paul Lambert, who believes the club to have entered talks already in a bid to secure a new deal with the Dutchman.
“We’ve been speaking to Ron and the message from his agent was thanks but no thanks,” said Lambert.
“I’d love to keep him. We’ve put our foot forward and I’m a bit annoyed the agent says the ball is in our court.”
A calf injury has reduced the Dutch defender’s contribution this season to just seven appearances, but he still remains integral to former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Lambert’s plans.
Vlaar, now 29, would be allowed to leave on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract in June of next year.
