The defeat leaves Everton in the relegation zone after nine games and increases the pressure on Koeman, who told Ziggo Sports that he doesn’t believe Sunday’s loss will get him the sack.

Koeman said, ”We work really hard every day to get things right. Everybody knows that the Premier League is a tough league.

”I admit that we are not in the best position in the league table. We are currently much lower than people expect us to be. I have confidence that we will not finish in our current league position.

”I do not feel that the players are reacting negatively towards me. But it is difficult to keep 29 players satisfied.

”You must also remember that the 5 defeats in our 9 games so far this season have come against the top 5 from the Premier League from last season. I do not believe that today is the final straw.”
