matavz sndkdnThe Russian club had agreed a deal with PSV last week, but it appeared to be off when Matavz failed a medical examination in Munich.

Now Rubin Kazan coach Rinat Bilyaletdinov has confirmed the club are looking at other targets after giving up on the Slovenian international.

He told Sports Express, “We no longer expect Matavz but we are actively seeking further recruitment. I’ve seen videos of the Slovene and I found him interesting. But the deal is off. The Clubs have not managed to reach an agreement.”

“There were some opportunities to solve it, but it’s just impossible.I’m sorry it does not work. Negotiations were complex and lasted long.”

The news will come as a big blow to PSV, who were expecting a fee of €8 million for the Slovenian, who is 2nd behind Jurgen Locadia in the pecking order of Phillip Cocu’s side.
