Serie A side Sampdoria are set to sign Ajax captain Niklas Moisander on a free transfer this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport the defender, who’s Ajax deal runs out this summer, will undergo a medical on Wednesday before committing to a three year-deal with the current 5th placed side in the Eredivisie.
The 29-year-old first signed for Ajax back in 2003, but left for Zwolle three years later without making an appearance. After 71 appearances for Zwolle and a four-year-spell with AZ Alkmaar Moisander re-signed for Ajax in 2012 for €4 million.
Moisander has played 99 times for Ajax and won two Eredivisie titles. but will leave the club at the end of the season as he looks for an adventure abroad after 12 years in Netherlands.
