Sneijder was signed by OGC Nice in the summer but has barely featured since, with injuries restricting the 33-year-old to 645 minutes of action. His time in France may already be over with several reports linking him with an exit from Nice in January.
Kongolo was bought by AS Monaco for €13 million from Feyenoord in the summer and was expected to have a big impact in France. However, he has only made three appearances in the league and is reportedly heading to Huddersfield Town on loan.
Both players have had a poor six months and that has resulted in them being included in L’Equipe’s XI of the worst summer buys.
The full XI is: Benoit Costil (Bordeaux), Racine Coly (Nice), Terence Kongolo (Monaco), Aymen Abdennour (Marseille), Saidy Janko (St. Etienne), Luiz Araujo (Lille), Thiago Maia (Lille), Youri Tielemans (Monaco), Wesley Sneijder (Nice), Kostas Mitroglu (Olympique Marseille) and Lois Diony (St. Etienne)
