The 36-year-old has been linked with a return to football with Utrecht recently, and it was thought he was heading to amateur side DHSC to work on his fitness.
However, it now appears that Sneijder is more keen on following a career in coaching. He was on the training pitch on Monday but only for discussions with the coaches.
DHSC head coach Gert Kruys explained the situation to Voetbal International, “Wesley is now at a point in his career that he can go a number of ways. Maybe he will become a football agent, maybe he will become a trainer. He asked me if he could take a look at how it works here. But it may also be that he will be walking around somewhere else later. Wes has several arrows on his bow. “
Asked if Sneijder has discussed a return as a player, Kruys said, “I didn’t talk to him about that. My focus is on DHSC and the players I have now. But of course I could use Wesley well as a player. He would have a free role with me in number ten position.”
