Koeman has been linked with taking over at Saint Mary’s since Mauricio Pochettino left the club for Tottenham last month, but the deal was not official until today.
The former Ajax, Benfica, PSV, and Valencia boss who guided Feyenoord to 2nd place last season in the Eredivisie has signed a 3-year-deal at Southampton.
Koeman told the official Southampton site, “Southampton have a talented first-team squad, a world-class academy and the infrastructure to sustain success in the Premier League,”
“From my very first meeting with executive director Les Reed I could see clearly that this was the right club for me. We share the same philosophy of football and the same belief in how to develop the club.
“The opportunity to continue the development of this famous football club was simply too good to turn down. I cannot wait to get started.”
Koeman’s brother Erwin has joined the club as assistant coach, while Jan Kluitenberg also comes in as a first team coach.
Feyenoord players Lex Immers and Graziano Pelle have already been linked with joining their former coach in England.
