Royal Antwerp have confirmed the loan signing of Dutch centre back Wesley Hoedt from Southampton.

Southampton loaned Hoedt to Celta Vigo in January and after making a poor impression in Spain, the centre-back returned to England with little chance of playing time.

Hoedt will now look to breathe new life into his career in Belgium after joining Royal Antwerp on loan until the end of the season. There is an option to make the deal permanent.

The 25-year-old, who has six caps for Netherlands, has previously played for AZ Alkmaar and Lazio before moving to Southampton in 2017.
