A header from Ricky van Wolfswinkel was enough to give Vitesse a slender win over Sparta Rotterdam.

The first half in Rotterdam was nothing to shout about as neither side even came close to finding the opening goal with only one shot on target during the opening 45 minutes.
After the break, Sparta improved but they failed to test Eloy Room in the Vitesse goal and on 83 minutes the visitors snatched victory. A corner from Kosuke Ota was headed into the net by Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
Mathias Pogba came off the bench for Sparta and came close to equalising late on, but any chance of a comeback was ended in stoppage time as Stijn Speirings saw red.
The victory moves Vitesse to sixth, while Sparta are 12th.
