Marcel Keizer is no longer the head coach of Sporting club de Portugal. The Dutchman has confirmed his immediate departure after consulting with the club.

Keizer took over the Portuguese giants back in November and led them to two trophies. The Portuguese cup and the Portuguese Super Cup, but a league title challenge was never on the cards.

After a disappointing start to the new campaign, Sporting have decided to make a change and replace Keizer with the head coach of the youth team, Leonel Pontes.

Keizer confirmed the news in a video and said, “I want to thank everyone for a great time. This is a pleasant country to work in and I look back on a good time with two prizes. Now the time has come for someone else. ”
