Van Wolfswinkel originally joined Norwich City from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £8.5 million in 2013, but the striker never settled in England and only scored once in his first season as his new club was relegated. Last season the Dutchman moved to Saint-Étienne, but after only five goals in twenty-four Ligue 1 appearances the French club decided against a permanent deal.
With Norwich City now back in the Premier League, Van Wolfswinkel does not feature in their plans for the new season and VI are reporting that Sporting Lisbon have agreed a £3.8 million fee for the 26-year-old. Talks will now take place between Sporting and Van Wolfswinkel over a return to the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
In his first two-year spell in Portugal, Van Wolfswinkel scored 45 goals in 88 appearances.
