Stam has been linked with the position since Ron Jans left his position earlier this year. Now, NOS have confirmed that the 47-year-old will sign a one-and-a-half year deal in Cincinnati with an option for an extra year.
His agent, Henk van Ginkel, has confirmed to NOS that the contracts will be signed once the travel restrictions to America have been eased. Stam will also take Feyenoord assistant Said Bakkati with him to the MLS.
At FC Cincinnati, Stam is reunited with technical director Gerard Nijkamp, with whom he worked at PEC Zwolle. He will also be in charge of Dutchmen, Siem de Jong, Jürgen Locadia and Maikel van der Werff.
It will be Stam’s fourth head coaching job after Reading, PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord.
