Feyenoord have topped their Europa League group after a comfortable 3-0 win over Standard Liege in Belgium.

eefeyFeyenoord started the match having already qualified for the knock-out stage, but they were only one point ahead of Europa League holders Sevilla, meaning only a win would realistically do if they were to seal top spot in the group.

After fifteen minutes the Rotterdam side had the lead with Jens Toornstra catching out Standard goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima with an intelligent free-kick from a tight angle.

The visitors continued to dominate proceedings after the goal and were barely threatened from a poor looking Standard side with debutante Lucas Woudenberg barely threatened at left back. Toornstra came close to adding a second early in the second half before Colin Kazim Richards set up Jean Paul Boetius on the hour mark to slot in from close range.

Coach Fred Rutten was able to hand striker/centre back Wessel Dammers his First team debut before Elvis Manu prodded Kazim-Richards chest down into the net to seal the victory.

Feyenoord now go into Monday’s last 32 draw as one of the top seeds, unlike fellow Dutch side’s PSV and Ajax.
