The former Netherlands number one has spent the last season on loan with the French side, but has played second fiddle to Monaco’s first choice Danijel Subasic.
Stekelenburg has made only one league appearance all season, but played seven times in the cup competitions, and although Monaco are reportedly happy with the Dutchman, they will not make it a permanent deal.
The 32-year-old will now return to Championship side Fulham, were he has a contract until 2017. A further move is likely this summer, with Southampton previously linked to the stopper who has 54 Netherlands caps.
