Calvin Stengs is proud to be called up by Netherlands for the first time but he is not aiming to just take in the experience.

The AZ Alkmaar winger has been in excellent form for his club so far this season and his reward is a first Oranje call-up for the upcoming Euro qualifiers with Northern Ireland and Estonia.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Stengs claimed he is not just there to take in the experience. He wants to make his Netherlands debut.

Stengs said, “Of course, if you are selected, you are initially there to gain experience. I don’t want to say that I have to play, but I want to play of course. I’ll just do my best and we’ll see.”

Stengs isn’t fazed by making the jump up from the Netherlands U21’s, “Bigger names … But in the end you play football with a ball. And that is round, so not much changes for me.”
