Erwin van de Looi decided to name the same eleven that defeated Portugal 4-2 earlier in the week.
Netherlands started slowly in Norway but after half an hour they had the lead when Rick van Drongelen worked in a Teun Koopmeiners free kick.
A minute into the second half, Calvin Stengs made it 2-0 with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box that flew into the net via the crossbar.
Owen Wijndal then set up Dani de Wit to make it 3-0 with a header before van Drongelen sealed the victory late on with a fierce strike.
Netherlands have nine points out of nine in the qualifying group and currently sit top, three points ahead of Portugal. The top team from each group goes into the final tournament, while number two heads into playoffs.
Stengs deserves a call up for the Oranje. He has been playing fantastic
This year for club and the under 21. A great future lies ahead for this gifted winger.
Come on Ronnie, call him up.
I am not for or against the call up to the national squad. And of course there is a case for both sides. One of the main goals is to be successful at all levels with Oranje and calling him up the to the senior squad might hurt the U-21’s. Calling up now may also leave him glued to the bench for the fixtures. Now of course the kid is in form and he and Boadu link up well, but for now I think they are more useful to the KNVB in the U-21’s. Next year could be a different story. But for now, I believe they should stay where they and, more importantly, develop at the international level.
Johnny Dutch is right, I agree with you. Just let Stengs, Boadu, van Drongelen and the others keep playing with the young lads. Enjoy the process, they will become mature at the right time.
Stunner. AZ ran the show for U21s! Stengs Boadu, Koopmeiners, De Wit, & Wijndal all with an assist or goal all escort last with multiple. Boadu & Stengs kink up so well & Idrissi for AZ great front 3 just hope they stick around. Stengs said he won’t got to AJAX or PSV but top 5 clubs are waxthing him & almost got Idrissi last season.
