Berghuis said, ”I am happy, it’s absolutely fine I do not want to talk about the details of my salary and yes I have taken a wage cut but I can only be happy about the fact that I will be playing regular football again this coming season the same feelings I had in the past with AZ Alkmaar & the Dutch national team.

”At Watford I could not play in my preferred position and Feyenoord play 4-3-3 with wingers applying pressure on the opponents and I believe that I can add something to their team.

” It’s difficult to discuss my time at Watford because then it appears that I am just looking for excuses and to be honest I do not feel that I received a fair chance at Watford. They brought me as a right sided winger and I never played a single game as a right sided winger and this season they also do not intend to play with wingers. The Premier League is great if you are involved but if not you can only watch it on TV but I really wanted to be a success  at Watford.

”Naturally, the choice to come to Feyenoord opens up the door to get back into contention for the Dutch national team . I believe Feyenoord has good players and I have a good feeling about this loan spell.”
