The Dutch international threw himself to the ground to win Roma a penalty just before half time which was scored to make it 1-1. Lazio went on to win the game 3-1 in the second half.

On Tuesday, the disciplinary committee of the Italian federation considered it proven that Strootman has committed against Lazio “seriously unsporting behaviour.”

Strootman will now miss the upcoming games against AC Milan and Juventus.
