Stuivenberg has played a big part in Netherlands youth teams over the past eight years having coached the U-17 side to two European Championships in 2011 and 2012. Last summer the 43-year-old was announced as the new boss of Netherlands U21’s but he will now leave his position to join up with Manchester United.
Van Gaal is a big fan of Stuivenberg having recommended the coach to the KNVB when Cor Pots left his position at the U21’s. The Netherlands boss brought Stuivenberg with him to Brazil for this summer’s World Cup to analyse opponents, but he is set to leave for Manchester immediately.
Stuivenberg and Ryan Giggs will take charge of Manchester United’s training sessions until Van Gaal finishes his Netherlands duties.
The KNVB have today announced that Adrie Koster will take over Netherlands U21’s, with the former experienced former Ajax, VVV and Club Brugge coach signing a deal until 2017.
