De Telegraaf are reporting this morning that Swansea City have made an offer for the Icelandic hit-man, who netted 12 times in 42 appearances for the Eredivisie champions last season.
The 24-year-old is wanted by a number of English clubs, including QPR, Leicester City, and West Ham United, with Ajax putting a €9 million price tag on his head.
It remains to be seen whether a move for Sigthorsson means there is a problem with the deal for Castaignos, which Twente were positive would go through earlier this week.
Swansea City are poised to lose Spanish striker Michu this summer, but a number of clubs have also been linked with their former Vitesse forward Wilfried Bony.
It could be that Swansea line up next season in the Premier League with a Sigthorsson and Castaignos strike force.
12 goal in 42 appearances for the Eredivisie champions last season makes the €9 million price tag way too high.
