The Moroccan playmaker has been the star for Vitesse Arnhem this season as they currently sit second in the table.
However, in an interview with De Telegraaf, the 26-year-old admitted he could have been playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
He said, “It is one hundred percent true that I could have been much further than where I am now. But we Muslims always say, what God has written for you is going to come to you. I believe in that. If it had to go through this winding path for me, then I have to accept that.”
Tannane looks at himself, “Of course it is not someone else’s fault what has happened. That is my mistake. God doesn’t tell you to be stubborn either. Those have been my choices. In retrospect it has been a path that could have been better, but I am proud of where I am now.”
Tannane is hoping for a chance at a big club after impressing with Vitesse, When I am in Amsterdam, people address me about the match against Ajax. And they say that I would have fitted in very well with Ajax, in Hakim Ziyech’s place. I think I am also partly the same player, but my career has turned out very differently.”
