Groningen defender Mike te Wierik has confirmed that he is set to join Derby County in the summer.

The centre-back is out of contract in the summer and various reports last week stated that he will join Phillip Cocu at Derby County.
Speaking to Fox Sports, Te Wierik confirmed the deal is close, “I think the odds are very high, so I’m assuming it’s going to be fine. It’s a nice step, I think.”
Te Wierik is also looking forward to playing with Wayne Rooney at the Championship club, “He is of course a legend. It is an honour to play with him, so I can look forward to that, yes.”
