Ajax boss Erik ten Hag spoke of his pride after Ajax sealed the Eredivisie championship with a 4-1 win at De Graafschap.

Ajax are Eredivisie champions for the first time since 2014 after finishing three points ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

After the 4-1 win over De Graafschap, Erik ten Hag spoke to Fox Sports, “Relieved? No, happy.

“This is great, super what those guys did. I think we have played a great season. I am very proud of what this team did. Fun, charisma … Winning the double couldn’t be better.”

Ten Hag understand there is still disappointment after their Champions League exit, “Of course, something will linger. That scar will last forever. But: in sports it is all about peaks and troughs. You sign for this in advance.”

Overall Ten Hag is delighted with the campaign, The season was very successful. You could say almost 100%. It was a fantastic European season. We played good football and made many people happy. That is perhaps the biggest compliment. The Champions League final would have been the ultimate, a super stunt. “
