Ihattaren was dropped from PSV’s squad for the clash with Ajax on Sunday after poor behaviour from the young midfielder. There are now reports that Ihattaren does not want to extend his contract in Eindhoven and he could leave PSV in the summer.
At his press conference, Ten Hag was asked about Ihattaren and whether his hands are itchy to try and work with him, given his record of working with “Difficult guys” such as Hakim Ziyech and Zakaria Labyad.
Ten Hag said, “I’ve had Barazite, I’ve had both Amrabats, I’ve had Ayoub. I think he (Ihattaren) is a great football player. More than a good football player, a fantastic talent. I hope he comes to his senses and shows that to the Netherlands.”
Ten Hag wouldn’t comment on Ihattaren’s behaviour though, “I don’t want to comment on that. I don’t know what happened there. So it’s very difficult to judge that if you don’t know the background.”
However, Ten Hag said on whether Ihattaren could join Ajax, “Yes, certainly. Good footballers are always welcome, but he is a PSV player.”
