RKC Waalwijk had a great chance to get their first victory of the season but instead lost 2-1 to 10-man Vitesse Arnhem.

Vitesse boss Leonid Slutsky decided to hand Hull City loanee Nouha Dicko his first start of the campaign in place of Jay-Roy Grot.

That decision paid off in the 16th minute when Matus Bero played in Dicko and the winger slotted the ball past goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen to give Vitesse the lead.

Vitesse were comfortable but seven minutes into the second half, the game turned in RKC’s favour. Julian Lelieveld was shown a red card for bringing down Stanley Elbers in the box. Clint Leemans netted the spot-kick to make it 1-1.

RKC looked for the winning goal with the man extra but on the counter, Oussama Tannane was brought down in the box and Vitesse were awarded a penalty. Tannane slotted it past Vaessen to give the visitors all three points.

RKC remains rock bottom of the Eredivisie while Vitesse climb to third.
