Dabo joined the Chelsea academy at the age of 12 in 2007 and established himself as a key player in their various youth teams, starting as a winger before being moved to full back. He was a regular in the FA Youth cup winning side of 2013/14 and then became a regular at U21 level when he became too old to star in the UEFA Youth League.

Last January, Dabo got his first chance of first team football out on loan with Swindon Town, making 17 appearances and scoring once, but he could not prevent the club from being relegated.

This summer, Dabo became one of the many Chelsea youngsters joining Vitesse on loan, and although he has admitted to being homesick he impressed on his debut in the Johan Cruyff Schaal defeat to Feyenoord. The 21-year-old played the full ninety minutes and already seemed to have formed a good understanding with Milot Rashica on the right wing.

Style of play

Dabo is a tall and powerful full back who can play on either side of the defence. He is strong in the tackle and in the air but also loves to get forward and make overlapping runs. He has good pace and dribbling skills which he honed in his time as a winger during his youth days.

What to expect from Dabo this season

Dabo seems to have beaten off competition from Julian Lieleveld to become Vitesse’s first choice right back this season and he will be eager to impress Chelsea bosses, who will be keeping tabs on their players in Arnhem this season. The club are set to challenge for the top four in the Eredivisie and hope to do will in the Europa League and Dabo will be a key player.
