janssen az scoThe AZ striker has been considering his options following growing interest after winning the Eredivisie golden boot and a string of impressive displays for the Dutch national side. Janssen has confirmed he has spoken to national coach Danny Blind about a transfer saying “I’m talking with Danny Blind about a transfer because I wanted advice. It was a good conversation.” Janssen revealed that Blind had advised him to move to a top Eredivisie club adding “He advised me to make an intermediate step in the Netherlands”.

However, it would seem that the top Eredivisie clubs (Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord) have shelved any bid for Janssen due to transfer fee involved, currently thought to be around €15 million. Janssen wouldn’t rule out the possibility, expressing a willingness to talk with any club that meets the transfer fee. He said, “If a top club in the Netherlands is willing to pay, then I am certainly willing to talk.”

Janssen did express his desire to move on from AZ adding “AZ know that I want to make that (next) step.”

Europe’s clubs are on red alert over Janssen with Arsenal, Atletico and Wolfsburg thought to be interested in signing him. If it came to a bidding war then Eredivisie clubs would not be able to compete with foreign clubs having significantly more funds to invest in transfer fees and salaries.
