rieksIt was the league leaders who started the game brightly, and Luc Castaignos missed a big chance to put his side 1-0 up in the first few minutes, seeing his effort saved.

Twente did eventually take the lead on 23 minutes when Shadrach Eghan finished from close range after Castaignos’s shot was saved.

Quincy Promes made it 2-0 after 34 minutes and it seemed FC Twente were going to run rampant with Castaignos and Bjelland missing further chances before the break.

However NEC came out in the 2nd half a totally different team, and Soren Rieks made it 2-1 on 53 minutes, as he beat the offside trap before finishing calmly.

Seven minutes later it was 2-2 with Jakob Jantscher netting with a header that looped over Nick Marsman in the Twente goal.

Twente pushed forward looking for the winner, but Promes blasted the ball over from just inside the area, and NEC held on for the precious point.

Despite a dominant performance throughout, Twente will be bitterly disappointed to drop points for the second week running.

The point sees Twente lose the top spot, but it is not enough to lift NEC off the bottom of the table.
