Utrecht held Twente to a 1-1 draw despite playing for 80 minutes with only ten men.

The visitors game plan went out the window in the ninth minute when Ramon Leeuwin saw red for a challenge on Twente striker Enes Unal. Referee Allard Lindhout initially awarded a penalty but overturned that decision after talking to his assistant.
With an extra man Twente took the initiative and in the 22nd minute Hidde Ter Avest capitalised on an error by Robbin Ruiter to put the hosts in front. The wing back cleverly lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper, who crept too far away from his line.
However, the lead only lasted four minutes before Utrecht equalised as Richairo Zivkovic nodded in on the rebound after Nick Marsman saved a shot by Yassin Ayoub.
In the second half Twente went in search of victory, but Unal, Bersant Celina and Kamohelo Mokotjo all missed good opportunities, while Utrecht could have snatched victory for themselves when Sebastien Haller raced through on goal. However, the French striker couldn’t beat Marsman and both teams had to settle for a point.
Twente are 6th after the draw, while Utrecht are one spot behind in 7th.
