Hakim Ziyech this week announced his decision to represent Morocco instead of the Dutch national team, and the in-form midfielder showed Danny Blind just what he would be missing as he dictated the first half.
On 25 minutes Ziyech crossed for young striker Jari Oosterwijk, who had missed two decent chances earlier in the game, to skillfully head in his first Eredivisie goal and give Twente the lead. Four minutes later it was 2-0 and once again it was Ziyech with the assist as he set up Kamohelo Mokotjo to fire into the corner from the edge of the box.
After the break Roda JC came into the game more and they made the final ten minutes nervous for the home side when Tomi Juric headed in a free-kick. Despite pressure from the away side Twente held on to record their maiden victory of the season, which sees them climb a place to 15th, while Roda JC remain 6th.
