mokotjondTwente have paid €1.5 million for the South African, who becomes PEC Zwolle’s most expensive player in their history, with the 23-year-old moving to Enschede on a deal until 2018.

Mokotjo only joined PEC Zwolle from Feyenoord last season, but he was hugely influential as the club won their first ever major trophy after beating Ajax in the KNVB Cup final. Mokotjo made 27 league appearances for PEC Zwolle last season, netting twice.

Speaking to the official Twente website, Mokotjo said, “I had a special season at PEC Zwolle last year and I’m proud of what we have achieved.”

“After a few conversations with coach Alfred Schreuder I knew I had to take this step. He clearly indicated how he wants to use me and that gave me the deciding factor. FC Twente has enormous ambitions.”

Mokotjo comes in at Twente on the same day that Quincy Promes left for Spartak Moscow in Russia. He won’t be the last new signing made by Twente this summer, with the club still hoping to find a deal for Heerenveen’s Hakim Ziyech.
