The 33-year-old has been on trial in Enschede over the last few weeks and the club have been impressed enough to offer the striker a deal until the end of the season.

The former AZ Alkmaar, Ajax, Excelsior and Willem II forward has been without a club since leaving Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawon at the end of last season. Speaking to the FC Twente website, El Hamdaoui said, “I have been training with FC Twente for the past two weeks and I feel good about this transition.

” I have played abroad for a number of years and I feel comfortable to be back in the Netherlands.”

El Hamdoui is Twente’s second signing of January after the arrival of Adam Maher.
