FC Twente began their campaign with a simple 2-0 victory over Fortuna Sittard.

Ron Jans is in charge of a new look FC Twente this season with several new players coming in. Against Fortuna Sittard, Vaclav Cerny, Danilo, and Tyronne Ebuehi started while a debut was handed to young left-back Jayden Oosterwolde. Fortuna Sittard also had a load of new players in their line-up including Mats Seuntjens, Ben Rienstra, Emil Hansson, and Sebastian Polter.

From the start, FC Twente were the better side and the lead came in the 10th minute when Queensy Menig raced in on goal before slotting past Alexei Koselev.

Hanssen fired widely off target in a rare chance for Fortuna before Danilo missed a good opportunity to double the Tukkers lead before the break. However, six minutes after the break, Danilo did double the lead from the penalty spot after Branislav Ninaj pulled Bosch down.

From that point on there was no trouble for FC Twente, who comfortably saw out the rest of the match. They start the season in good form and face Feyenoord next week, while Fortuna Sittard are against Heerenveen.
