FC Twente once again failed to win on Saturday evening as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Willem II in Enschede.

Willem II headed to Enschede full of confidence after their 5-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven last weekend, and they took the lead on 14 minutes as Kostas Tsimikas beat Joel Drommel.

Twente went close through Adam Maher shortly after the opener and eventually they equalised on 43 minutes with Thomas Lam heading in a free-kick.

The home side dominated the opening stages of the second half but they missed several chances and Willem II made them pay with twenty minutes left. Fran Sol continued his fine form by latching onto Tsimikas pass before firing past Drommel. He is now the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 14 goals.

It seemed Willem II were on course for another victory but with three minutes left, Peet Bijen rescued a point for Twente, firing in after a scramble in the box.

The point means Twente remain second bottom and eight points adrift of safety. Willem II sit 15th.
