The game got off to a tepid start, but out of nothing Twente took the lead on 27 minutes when Hakim Ziyech beat two Cambuur defenders before sending an effort on goal. Marvin Peersman was on the line but could only deflect the shot into his own net.
Two minutes later, Jerson Cabral smashed an excellent curling strike into the top corner from 30 yards to double the home side’s advantage.
In the second half Twente continued to dominate but they had to wait until injury time to add a third goal from the penalty spot. Jamiro Monteiro brought down Tom Holscher earning himself a red card and Twente a spot kick which Ziyech calmly paneka’d down the middle.
Twente now sit stable in 13th place, while Cambuur remain bottom.
