FC Twente have decided to sack head coach Marino Pusic despite their promotion back to the Eredivisie.

Pusic has been with Twente since 2015 and took over from Gertjan Verbeek as head coach last season. Despite their relegation, Twente stuck with the Bosnian, who led the club to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie championship and a quick return to the Eredivisie.

However, Twente have now decided to part ways with Pusic and will look for a new head coach to lead them into next season.

Twente director Ted van Leeuwin told the club’s website, “The club and Marino are not on the same line regarding the football philosophy and its implementation. That is why we go our separate ways. Of course it is not an easy decision. “

In recent weeks, Steve McLaren has put his name forward to return to the Enschede club for a third stint in charge. It remains to be seen who the Tukkers will turn to next.
