Twente is looking for a replacement for Gonzalo García, whose contract was not extended this summer after the club finished the season in 14th. Alexander Zorniger turned down advances from the Tukkers last week, while FC Emmen’s Dick Lukkien was also not interested in the position.
VI is reporting that FC Twente have now set their sights on Ron Jans, and an agreement over a two-year deal is close.
The 61-year-old has vast experience in the Eredivisie, having coached FC Groningen, SC Heerenveen, and PEC Zwolle. He was recently in charge of FC Cincinnati but quit his role in controversial circumstances after being accused of racism.
Jans would need to oversee a squad overhaul in Enschede with sixteen contracts set to expire this summer.
