After seeing off Schalke in the last round Ajax continued their excellent start to the competition with a comfortable win in Moscow.
Wim Jonk’s side started strongly with Carel Eiting sending a volley just wide of the post, and Ezra Walian seeing a close range header saved. Just before the break Ajax did take the lead from the spot after Donny van de Beek was fouled, with Zakaria El Azzouzi netting the penalty.
A minute into the second half Walian hit the upright, but it wasn’t long before Ajax added a second with Kasper Dolberg finding the bottom corner with an excellent free kick.
Ajax then sealed victory in the 69th minute as Walian played a one-two with Abdelhak Nouri before lifting the ball calmly into the top corner.
The return will take place in Amsterdam on the 25th of November.
