aguAgudelo was a free agent as his contract with the MLS expired, and after signing for Stoke he has immediately been loaned out to Utrecht. The reason for the initial loan is Stoke’s inability to gain a work permit for the American, which they hope will change once Agudelo has played in Europe.

The 21-year old started his career with New York Red Bulls, scoring 6 goals in 33 appearances, before moving to Chivas USA, and New England Revolution last year.

It was with New England that Agudelo has enjoyed his best spell so far in his career, netting seven times in 14 games. Already a regular with the American national team, the forward has 14 caps, scoring twice.

It is yet to be seen whether the signing of Agudelo will pave the way for Jacob Mulenga to leave Utrecht, with the forward being linked with a move away this month.

Utrecht need new recruits after recent games have seen them on the back of two heavy defeats to both PSV, and Feyenoord. Agudelo could go straight into the team for next weekends tie with Roda JC.
