Utrecht came away from Roda JC with a comfortable 4-1 victory on Sunday.

Jean-Paul de Jong went into the game still unbeaten as Utrecht boss and his side is brimming with confidence. After only 13 minutes they had the lead at Roda JC. Mateusz Klich sent Sander van de Streek in on goal and his shot looped over Hidde Jurjus and hit the underside of the crossbar before sneaking over the line.

Dani Schahin came close to getting an equaliser for Roda JC but his effort was cleared from the line. At the other end, Jurjus had to make a brilliant save to deny Zakaria Labyad before the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, Mark van der Maarel doubled Utrecht’s lead on the rebound after Jurjus had kept out Labyad’s original strike. Van de Streek then netted his second from Klich’s low cross on 63 minutes.

Jorn Vancamp pulled one back for Roda JC with seven minutes left but in the final moments Labyad added a fourth for the visitors. The win lifts Utrecht into fourth while Roda JC remain 16th.
