The Frenchman has found it difficult to break into the Newcastle United line-up since joining from Nancy in 2013, making only 30 appearances in the Premier League.

Haidara’s contract in England expires in the summer and he has been told by Newcastle that a January exit is possible. According to AD, FC Utrecht are hoping to swoop for the 25-year-old, but its not clear whether that would be on loan or a permanent deal.

Utrecht want to sign a left-back in January after Edson Braafheid decided to dissolve his contract with the club in order to move closer to his family in the USA.
