Remko Pasveer had a day to forget in the Vitesse Arnhem goal as Utrecht ran out 5-1 winners.

Vitesse went into the game full of confidence after beating Ajax last weekend and they came closest to breaking the deadlock early on with Mason Mount hitting the woodwork with a free-kick.

In the 36th minute, Utrecht opened the scoring as Yassin Ayoub robbed Thulani Serero before setting up Willem Janssen to score an easy goal. It was 2-0 before the break, through Zakaria Labyad who finished calmly after good work by Gyrano Kerk and Sander van de Streek.

Vitesse pulled one back early in the second half as Navarone Foor found the bottom corner with a good strike to make it 2-1.

However, Pasveer then ruined any chance of a comeback as he dropped a poor Ayoub cross into the path of Van de Streek, who tapped in the hosts third. Ayoub then tapped in a corner to make it 4-1 before the midfielder took advantage of a Pasveer slip to make it five and a miserable evening for the goalkeeper.

The win means Utrecht will definitely remain fourth while Vitesse are 6th.
